The fourth Turf Business Summit was held in Barcelona. Influential turf care professionals spent 3 days discussing key issues, opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

A tough economic situation coupled with increased costs for energy, wages, fertilisers, packaging and logistics have pushed up prices for forage and turf seed. In addition, favourable prices on ag commodities, such as wheat, oil seed rape and sunflower have made these crops more attractive and put on pressure to get a competitive seed production price. Therefore, in general seed growers have reconsidered whether they should reduce seed production and cultivate a larger proportion of commodities.

On December 16, it is 150 years since the first seed emerged for the seed group, which today is the 7th largest in the world, has a turnover of EURO 1.1bn and 2,240 staff worldwide.

In July, almost 300 researchers and professionals attended the 14th International Turfgrass Research Conference, which was held in Copenhagen. Under the conference theme “Development and Sustainability” 181 papers presented how turfgrasses improves sustainable development in cities, how new diseases can be controlled, and how professionals can reduce fertilizer- and chemical use without compromising too much on turf quality.

After 16 years as CEO, Truels Damsgaard is stepping down as of 1 November 2022, handing over the management responsibilities to Søren Halbye, EVP Greater Europe & South America.

After 25 years in the DLF Group, CFO Morten Andersen has decided to retire at the end of this year. His successor will be Allan Bødskov Andersen who will join DLF on 1 September 2022 and on 1 November will take over the position as CFO and become a member of the Executive Board at DLF.

DLF was proud to be a partner at the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists' congress in June/July. The congress took place in Denmark and Ag-journalists from more that 40 countries participated.
